HandyCon Venue Update – Full Press Release

Some of you may already have heard from the Delta Hotels by Marriott Milton Keynes regarding the cancellation of hotel room bookings for later this year.
Unfortunately, we can confirm that the hotel has recently been sold and will be closing on Monday 17th August, the day after HandyCon August. At this stage, there are no plans for it to reopen as a hotel.
HandyCon August is going ahead as planned
First and most importantly, HandyCon August is not affected.
The convention will take place as planned from Thursday 13th to Sunday 16th August 2026 at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Milton Keynes. The hotel will remain open until lunchtime on Monday, allowing guests staying on Sunday night to check out as normal the morning after the convention.
So, if you're joining us in August, we'll see you there as planned. The Games Organiser and events schedule will also be released soon.
What happens to HandyCon October?
We are currently speaking with hotels and venues in Milton Keynes and further afield to find a new home for HandyCon October and our future conventions.
As soon as we have any updates, we'll share them on our social media channels and here on the HandyCon blog.
We are also adding an email subscription option at the end of this blog post for anyone who would like to receive updates directly by email, particularly those who don't use social media.
We know many of you have already had your October hotel bookings cancelled, and we understand that this has left people wondering what is happening with the convention itself.
For the moment, we have paused new ticket sales for HandyCon October until we have confirmed the new venue. Anyone who would still like to attend can join our ticket waiting list, and we'll get in touch once we have more information and ticket sales are able to reopen.
If you have already purchased a ticket for October, your ticket remains valid and you don't need to do anything at this stage. Existing October ticket holders will also be given priority access to hotel room bookings at the new venue once everything has been confirmed.
Our priority now is finding the right venue and getting everything in place. We'll share more information as soon as we have it.
Keeping up to date
We'll continue to update this blog as the situation develops. Once a new venue has been confirmed, we'll share all the relevant information about the location, accommodation and hotel booking arrangements.
