This is what HandyCon is all about!
Bring along your shiny new hotness or dig out your old favourites and prepare to game the weekend away with your fellow board gamers. Play party games, heavy strategy games, 18xx or anything in between.
We have a large main open gaming area as well as several other rooms for tournaments and events. We also have use of the bar area and platformed area next to the restaurant.
Are you coming along on your own or do you just need some extra players? No worries! We have ‘Players Wanted’ signs for anyone looking to fill seats as well as a noticeboard for anyone looking to organise a specific game. Don’t forget that the HandyCon Facebook Page is also a good way to pre-arrange games before the event.
In addition to bringing along your own games we also provide a selection of games in ever growing our library.
The games library is open to all HandyCon attendees free of charge for the duration of the convention.
Each HandyCon we run a few tournaments for a variety of different games. Some may require prior knowledge of the rules, whilst others are relatively simple to pick up and play.
In the past we have run tournaments for games such as Viticulture, Flamme Rouge, Baseball Highlights 2045, Pitch Car, 18xx and Scythe.
If you are interested in running a tournament at HandyCon, please email Rich Watney for details.
Bring & Buy
Fallen out of love with an old favourite? Never taken that Kickstarter out of shrink? Bring along your unwanted games to the Bring and Buy! Get paid real cash monies and free up some shelf space for all the bargains to be had.
Each HandyCon, we try and raise funds for meaningful causes, and ask for a discretionary donation for each game sold in the Bring and Buy.
We also have a HandyCon Discussion Facebook group for those wishing to prearrange sales and trades.
Each year we choose a charity to support with donations from attendees, events and the bring and buy.
See our Previous HandyCons page to find out more about the causes we have supported and how much we have raised.
HandyCon is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable gaming environment for everyone who attends. Please behave respectfully to all other attendees, ensuring all can feel safe and enjoy themselves regardless of gender, gender identity, sexuality, appearance, race or religion.
Physical and verbal harassment will not be tolerated and the organisers reserve the right to take appropriate action including warning the offender or expulsion from the convention with no refund, and in some cases informing the police.
Some examples of harassment include:
- Offensive verbal comments
- Explicit sexual images or references
- Deliberate intimidation
- Unwanted attention or following of persons
- Unwanted recording or photography
- Sustained disruption of games or activities
- Innappropriate physical contact
- Unwelcome attention, including sexual remarks, jokes or taunting, leering, staring or suggestive gestures
To report harassment: If a request to stop behaviours does not get the desired result or there are continued problems with one gamer, please report the problem to a member of the HandyCon team.
