Terms & Conditions

Interpretation and General

  1. The following terms and conditions apply to everyone attending HandyCon as a private individual rather than as a trader, an exhibitor, a volunteer, or a member of staff (“Attendee(s)”).
  2. HandyCon (the “Event”) refers to the biannual event organised by HandyCon Ltd. (the “Organiser(s)”) that takes place at Holiday Inn Maidenhead, Manor Lane, Berkshire, Maidenhead SL6 2RA (the “Venue”).
  3. Every Attendee agrees to:
    a) follow any instructions and comply with any reasonable requests made to the Attendee in advance of or during the Event by the Organisers or anyone acting as a Volunteer at the Event
    b) follow and act in accordance with any terms and conditions laid down by the management or staff of the Venue to the extent that they are communicated to the Attendee either prior to or during the Event; and
    c) comply with any reasonable instructions given to the Attendee by the management or staff of the Venue either prior to or during the Event
    as though any such terms and conditions or instructions were incorporated into these terms and conditions.
  4. All matters and questions not covered by these terms are subject to the decision of the Organisers. Attendees agree to abide by and conform to all additional rules and regulations from time to time adopted or prescribed by the Organisers for the management of the Event to the extent that such rules and regulations are shown or explained to the Attendees.
  5. These terms and conditions shall be subject to the laws of England and Wales.

Purchase and Collection of Tickets

  1. Everyone wishing to access the areas of the Venue in which the Event is being held must have a valid ticket.
  2. There is no guarantee that tickets will be available for purchase at the Event. In order to avoid disappointment, you should purchase your ticket online at www.handycon.co.uk before the Event sells out.
  3. All tickets purchased online in advance will be issued to the Attendee via email. If an Attendee arrives at the Event with no access to their ticket, they will be required to show Photographic ID to prove that the ticket is theirs.
  4. Upon arriving at the Event, Attendees must exchange their tickets for a valid pass. Attendees must display a valid pass whilst in any area of the Venue where the Event is being held.

Cancellation, Non-attendance and Refunds

  1. Everyone who has purchased a ticket is eligible for a full refund if they announce their cancellation over 30 days prior to start of the Event via email to ticketing@handycon.co.uk from the email address with which the tickets were originally purchased.
  2. Within 30 days prior to the start of the Event, tickets are not eligible for refunds.
  3. Tickets are transferable up to 48 hours prior to the start of the Event. To transfer a ticket, please email ticketing@handycon.co.uk from the email address with which the tickets were originally purchased with the full name and email address of the person or people the ticket(s) are being transferred to.
  4. Within 48 hours prior to the start of the Event, tickets are not eligible to be transferred.

Events Beyond Our Control

  1. If the Event is cancelled prior to its commencement, the full cost of all tickets will be refunded
  2. If the Event is terminated earlier than scheduled, the liability of the Organisers shall be limited to the cost of the tickets subject to a pro rata reduction for that portion of the anticipated time for which the Event was scheduled to run which in fact fell before any such cancellation.
  3. In either case the Organisers will not be held liable for any other costs incurred.

Prohibited Conduct and Sanctions

  1. Handycon is a welcome space for everyone regardless of age, race, religion / belief, biological sex, gender identity, sexuality, disability, pregnancy / parenthood, or appearance. The Organisers reserve the right to identify any attire, act or item as prejudiced and/or discriminatory and exclude the object and/or the owner or actor from the Event.
  2. The Organisers similarly reserve the right to refuse entry to a prospective Attendee who presents or has presented a risk of attire, acts and/or items which would negatively impact upon the Event’s status as a discrimination-free zone.
  3. All attendees, exhibitors, volunteers and staff agree to adhere to the Code of Conduct and Anti-harassment Policy.
  4. The Organisers reserve the right to refuse admission to any Attendee if they in their absolute discretion decide the Attendee is inappropriately clothed or attempting to use materials or perform actions of a dangerous or objectionable nature.
  5. Any Attendee who is uncertain as to the appropriateness or acceptability of any costume, clothing, materials or activities should discuss their concerns with the Organisers in advance of the Event.

Displaying and Distributing Promotional/Advertising Materials

  1. Attendees are prohibited from displaying or giving out flyers or any other promotional/advertising materials in any area of the Event without prior written permission from the Organisers.

Data Protection

  1. We will treat your personal information in accordance with UK and EU data protection legislation.
  2. We will only use your information for administration, communication and research.

Photography, Recording and Social Media

  1. The Organisers or anyone acting as a Volunteer at the Event reserve the right to film, record or photograph the Event. Attendees are advised that this may result in the inclusion of themselves within some recording or photographs published online, on social media or in promotional materials.
