HandyCon 3 – Floorplan, Food & Fun

Hello HandyConners!

With only a few more days until HandyCon 3, here is your guide to finding your way around, feeding yourself and getting involved in what we have planned.

Note that this year have use of areas outside of the main hotel conference facilities. Attendees are welcome to game in the bar and surrounding areas marked on the map for Open Gaming. We have also introduced a Quiet Gaming Area for gamers who want to get some peace from the hustle and bustle of the main gaming room.

 

Food (And Also Drink)

Food and Drink

Food: You can find the special HandyCon 3 menu here. You can order from this menu at the Main Bar and at the HandyCon Bar between midday and 10pm each day. Please take a note of the name of the room that you are in and your table number when ordering food.

If nothing on the HandyCon Menu takes your fancy, you can order from the regular Main Hotel Menu for Room Service or if dining within the Lounge/Restaurant Area. Note that the regular Main Hotel Menu will not be available if dining in the Gaming Areas.

Drinks: Discounted drinks tokens will be available for purchase at the event:

5 x Alcoholic Drink Tokens for £15

Each single token entitles you to one of the following drinks:

  • Draught Beer or Cider
  • Bottles of Beer (except Bombardier and Stella Cidre)
  • 125ml Glass of House Wine
  • Any Soft Drink by Draught or Bottle
  • Tea
  • Coffee

5 x Soft Drink Tokens for £10

Each single token entitles you to one of the following drinks:

  • Pint of Draught Fizzy Drink
  • Pint of Juice
  • Tea
  • Filter Coffee

The bar also serves Starbucks Coffee and iced water is availble free of charge.

A complimentary Tea & Coffee Trolley will work its way through the Gaming Area every day at 11am until midday, so please help yourselves. There will also be an Iced Water Station within the Gaming Area throughout the weekend for your convenience.

There are also a few restaurants (Frankie & Benny’s and T.G.I Fridays) in the neighbouring retail park, along with a Costa Coffee, McDonalds and ASDA supermarket.

Please note that whilst The Holiday Inn have kindly allowed attendees to bring in a few small snacks, drinks and more substantial food not purchased at the hotel may only be consumed within bedrooms and not in any of the Public Areas.

And of course amidst all of these we have lots of room for open gaming! Bring along your own games or find something to play in our games library. To help facilitate playing games we have a number of things available, included ‘Players Wanted’ signs at the event, as well as a spreadsheet for prearranging games and of course the HandyCon Discussion Facebook Group to plan games in advance.
